Some Information on the Sexual Harassment Lawsuit Faced by Cedar Realty’s CEO
Former Cedar Realty Chief Operating Officer Nancy H. Mozzachio filed a pay discrimination and a sexual harassment lawsuit against the company’s CEO Bruce Schanzer. It is just waiting for a Brooklyn judge to be deciding if the lawsuit has more merit to proceed.
As per Nancy Mozzachio’s statement of her filed lawsuit on November 2, she says that she has seen and heard Schanzer always making inappropriate comments to women as well as leering them. In addition to being called ‘babe’, Nancy Mozzachio is also being commented on her breasts by Schanzer. One time when she brought to her desk a coffee cup from Dunkin Donuts, she was commented by him to be bringing some double Ds to work. In addition, Schanzer was said to have been groping her from time to time at work that is totally unwanted.
By the time that Nancy H. Mozzachio filed her case to the court for pay disparity and sexual harassment, the company has then decided that it be best for them to fire her. Come February 2016 when she was done getting some outside help for the sexual harassment case she was filing against the Cedar’s CEO, she was then terminated for her job. According to her, the meeting was canceled and then she was then terminated on the coming week.
By a 2015 external investigator probe, Cedar Realty decided to investigate these allegations. Despite the presence of an investigator by the company, Nancy Mozzachio makes mention that if it will be about Schanzer and the sexual harassment allegations made by the female employees of the company, the investigator ignores them. One of the reports of the Wall Street Journal has even gotten some claim from one female employee who has been asked by Schanzer what color her underwear is. As per Mozzachio, all the lawsuit charges against Schanzer were just settled in the form of payroll payments to keep them quiet from the investors.
Nancy Mozzachio has basically become a success in this company. In 2003, she became the director of leasing and then was promoted vice president by 2004, while in the year 2014, she then became the chief operating officer. According to what she is filing, she complains that she is only getting smaller bonuses as well as lower salaries being the chief operating officer compared to the chief financial officer when in fact she must get them in higher amount. Cedar Realty has made it clear that they are not guilty of these charges and after thorough investigation by the board, findings have shown that the allegations are just of no merit.
After considering the case of no merit, Nancy H. Mozzachio is not going to be backing down from it just yet. She will continue fighting for the right of women working in a safer workplace.
